THERE’S NEVER BEEN A BETTER TIME!

CAPTURE THE MOMENT, MAKE MEMORIES THAT LAST FOREVER

I love to photograph babies and children, and as a St Albans family photographer I have been doing just that for 8 wonderful years!  Precious moments fly by so quickly, and I believe it’s important to capture them forever. I work with you in your natural environment rather than a studio, so you can relax and be yourselves. That will almost always be in your own home local to St Albans for babies and younger children.  With older children it may be at home, a favourite outdoor spot or a  combination of the two if they are close by.  We’ll choose the best place together when we plan the shoot.

I hope you’ll choose to be in some of the shots too so I can give you some beautiful family portraits.  I’m guilty of this with my own children – I just need to lose a few more pounds, get my hair done, buy a new outfit….then you can take my photo.  There’s always an excuse, but we never know what’s around the corner and it’s so important to capture the here and now, just as it is.  Trust me, your children will thank you for it in the future – they want to know you were there too!

THE IMAGES ARE GORGEOUS

We have been so lucky to have Claire do first year pictures for all 3 of our children. The images are gorgeous, we love the first year package, so we can look back and treasure how much they grow and change over that time (which goes so quickly). It never fails to amaze us how Claire manages to create such gorgeous pictures from complete chaos!

MAGICAL MOMENTS WE WILL TREASURE

ALEX & MARK

What shall we wear?

Always the first question everyone has!  Well it’s up to you of course, but it’s important to wear something you feel comfortable in. It’s best to avoid strong patterns and writing/ logos on clothes – these can be distracting and date the photos.  You don’t all have to be matchy-matchy – but preferably not clashing either!

For a newborn session please dress lightly or in layers because the house needs to be warm. For baby it’s best to start off dressed in a plain and simple one piece vest, which we may take off once they are settled. Please have familiar swaddling blankets available so we can do this gradually to avoid startling them.

Where shall we do the shoot?

I prefer to work with you in your natural environment rather than a studio, so you can relax and be yourselves. That will almost always be in your own home local to St Albans for babies and younger children. With older children it may be at home, a favourite outdoor spot or a combination of the two if they are close by. We’ll choose the best place together when we plan the shoot.

How long will it take?

A session usually lasts around an hour, but I allow up to two, with plenty of time for snacks and breaks. A newborn session may take longer to give ample time for feeding and changing etc – baby’s comfort is always the number one priority!

Please don’t stress about your little ones not behaving during the shoot.  I’ve been there, done that with my own, and I have plenty of tricks up my sleeve!  I allow plenty of time so everyone can settle into the session, relax and hopefully enjoy it – yes, even Dad!!  We might be finished sooner, but it’s best to plan this long to be on the safe side.

Can we request particular shots?
Of course! I’ll come on the day prepared with lots of ideas for a wide variety of shots but if you have ideas of your own please let me know in advance! Do have a look through my website in advance for some ideas – and to make sure my style is what you are looking for.
